From delivering bits to serving tokens.

Harsh environments and emergency sites lack terrestrial networks, and LEO satellite Internet is converging with large-model services. Once networks carry stateful token flows instead of bits, what new laws govern their communication, computing and storage trade-offs, and how can an intent-driven closed loop master them?

Infer fast

Compressing tokens cuts latency, but degrades generation quality.

Input, visual and output tokens describe the workload of a multimodal request, which takes communication-computing design from the task level down to the token level. The system jointly selects semantic compression, serving tier and resources: slow-timescale planning sets UAV positions and model caches, and fast-timescale scheduling follows current links and loads.

Service intent is semantic. Network control is numerical.

Semantic resource perceivers interpret link, load and energy conditions. Intent-driven orchestrators translate service requirements into tool calls and resource decisions. Adaptive learners update knowledge and policies from execution feedback. Together they close a MAPE-K loop.

Offload accurately

Bursty, heterogeneous services need offloading that is both feasible and proactive.

UAV trajectories, user association and resource allocation are strongly coupled, and conventional multi-agent learning has no foresight. Short-horizon task forecasts guide the agents, so nodes coordinate before workloads arrive and task completion delay falls under changing loads.

Train efficiently

Devices cannot run full models, yet split training raises the convergence error bound.

Devices train shallow layers, UAVs train deeper layers and aggregate locally, and satellites aggregate globally. Model splits, device association, bandwidth and computing are decided jointly, so model updates fit the tiers they run on. On a factory floor, devices can also help each other upload over direct links, so learning survives packet errors and server failures.
